The US Market Indexes publication from Bull Laboratories (BullLabs.com) presents a comprehensive collection of stock market composite indexes, encompassing over 600 publicly traded companies and American Depository Receipts (ADRs) with the largest market capitalizations listed on the NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX stock exchanges, and the OTCBB (Over-The-Counter Bulletin Board). Currently, this compilation consists of 634 stocks spread across 11 sectors and categorized into 69 distinct industries, with the composition weight of each component adjusted periodically according to its market capitalization.

In addition to essential pricing and volume data, the publication provides extensive financial insights derived from the underlying components within each sector and industry. For instance, the earnings per share (EPS) specific to an industry is calculated by aggregating the EPS figures of its constituents, multiplied by the number of shares held. This feature enables investors to effectively benchmark their investment performance against specific stock market sectors or industries.

Intraday index pricing and volume data are sourced from real-time market transactions, while additional financial characteristics are updated daily after market close. Subscribed users benefit from access to current detailed index data, along with unlimited downloads of historical figures and charts.

The application offers four key types of information for each sector or industry index. The Components screen lists the underlying constituents of each index along with their respective prices and gains/losses. The Performance screen displays performance data for the components over various timeframes: daily, weekly, monthly, three-month, six-month, and annually. The Details screen presents specific information on each index, such as trading volume, 52-week average volume, industry allocation percentage within the sector, trailing twelve months EPS (ttm EPS), and trailing twelve months Price to Earnings (ttm P/E) ratios. Lastly, the Graph screen provides visual representations of price movements on a monthly, weekly, and daily basis.

Sector and industry-specific indexes are crucial for investors seeking to assess their investment performance relative to particular stock market segments. Given that stocks often exhibit collective movements influenced by overarching market dynamics, equities within similar industries tend to respond to shared factors affecting that sector. Analyzing the sector breakdown of an investment portfolio is fundamental in understanding its risk exposure. A diversified spread across multiple sectors can indicate a more resilient portfolio against macroeconomic shifts or industry trends compared to one concentrated in a limited number of sectors.

Moreover, market sector and industry indexes serve as vital instruments for implementing a Sector Rotation Investment Strategy. This strategy is akin to tactical asset allocation; however, it focuses on directing funds toward specific sectors or industries based on short-term outlooks. Investors may choose to overweight sectors believed to outperform while underweighting those anticipated to underperform.
